Bear Canyon Rescue – High Water

Bear Canyon, Arizona Hikers Rescued Near Tucson – hikers rescued from Bear Canyon after rain caused high water – there were a number of articles about this, the story made it to the national news. Great video of the Seven Falls area from this time period. After the event an additional story made the news about a family who refused the rescuers help with some questions about were the children endangered and a mention that they did not know the rescue would be free Hiker who refused rescue at Bear Canyon speaks out (note that while the the YouTube video above is dramatic that other videos taken down canyon show water that is quite a bit less ‘aggressive’).

Incinerator Ridge Trail Extension

Incinerator Ridge Trail Extension: New trail segment in Catalinas serves up a visual feast for hikers and Coronado National Forest Proposal for the Extension (interesting/quick reading if, like me, you are not familiar with these proposals). This extends the trail system on the east (non-wilderness) side of the General Hitchcock Highway and helps provide a more continuous path up and down the mountain for cyclists (and hikers!).
