In 2018 Pima County purchased the Tesoro Nueve Ranch, previously owned by , adding to its holdings on the east side of the Santa Catalina Mountains.

The Tesoro Nueve Ranch is located along Buehman Canyon and by acquiring the property and associated Arizona State Trust Land Grazing leases the purchases should help with both the protection of this remarkable canyon and also, eventually, with recreational access into the canyon.

This Memorandum from County Administrator C.H. Huckelberry provided details on the purchase and property for the Pima County Supervisors ahead of the purchase appearing on the 6/19/2018 agenda. It contains brief details on a number of interesting subjects including boudaries, plants, animals and history.
