Beginning in 2012 the Santa Catalina Bighorn Sheep Restoration Project Committee met about the reintroduction in the Santa Catalina Mountains. Participants included representatives from Arizona Game and Fish, Forest Service, Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society, Center for Biological Diversity, the Wilderness Society, the Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society, Arizona Wilderness Coalition, and the Sky Island Alliance.
This committee brought together a wide variety of viewpoints and differed from many other re-introduction efforts managed exclusively by state and federal agencies. A great summary of the process can be found in this article The Bighorn's Dilemma, Terrain.org.
While there were frequent press and information releases the meetings of the Committee were for the most part closed. In 2014 a Freedom of Information Act request from the Friends of Wild Animals resulted in he release of meeting notes from the meetings that are sparse but are still an interesting insight into the process.
