Pictures from a Control Road, Crystal Spring Trail and Butterfly Trail hike last month – even then the green plants were overwhelming the narrow track of the Crystal Spring Trail, I can’t wait to go back later in the summer and see what happens once the rain starts!

  1. Can you share more about your route? Guess you saw the big fallen Ponderosa just NW of the Crystal Springs/Butterfly intersection…requires a crawl-under.

    1. Sorry it took me so long to reply to your comment! By the time I saw it I was waiting to see what would happen with the Burro Fire… My route on this hike was down the Control Road (a friend dropped me off at the pull out just beyond the turn off for the Control Road) to the junction with the Crystal Spring Trail, then the Crystal Spring Trail (very green and with many downed trees – I remember most as easily stepped over/around/hunched under – I think Lynn reported counting 13 or so…), continuing onto the Butterfly Trail and then down to the Bigelow Trailhead just below from the Palisade Ranger Station where I caught a ride home. Let me know if you any other questions!
